The EVESCAM Follow Up Study

Principal Investigator: Ramfis Nieto-Martíez

The effect of the Venezuelan situation on the cardiovascular effect of the population is unknown, especially, how this environment impacted the population across diverse socioeconomic status.

The aims of the study were: a) To assess the change between 2015/2017 and 2018/2019 in 10-year fatal cardiovascular disease risk stratified by socioeconomic status in Venezuela. We hypothesize that populations with lower socioeconomic status will have a larger increase in 10-year cardiovascular risk during this period.

b) To quantify the change between 2015/2017 and 2018/2019 in individual risk factors/behaviors (i.e. diabetes, prediabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemias, obesity, sarcopenia, undernutrition, smoking, alcohol intake, depression, anxiety, physical activity, nutritional intake, and Mediterranean diet adherence) as secondary outcomes stratified by socioeconomic status in Venezuela
